Iceland airport
Fun fact. Safety rules prohibit use of passenger walkways to airplanes with winds greater than 50 knots. Right now we are experiencing gusts of up to 57 knots. So most of our passengers are seated on the plane but a few can’t get on.
We’ve been at the gate for an hour waiting for winds to subside to no avail. We may leave without them.
So anyway
My fitness tracker software said I walked 11 miles on Saturday and 7 on Sunday.
Loved traversing dc with Ricky. Sunday we started at the Capitol and botanical garden and walked all the wa
Last time I was at botanical gardens was with Ricky.
Kim had a dc conference and infant Ricky and I joined her.
Back to our walking. It was wonderful walking with no real place in mind. After the botanical gardens we stumbled across the Native American museum.
Let’s check it out.
My takeaway: there were hundreds of tribes. Maybe thousands spread across the americas. Most were isolated enough from each other that they developed their own languages and customs. So while each tribe could be considered part of the group, native peoples of the americas, each exhibit on each tribe requires learning a separate body of culture.
After 90 minutes we had only covered one of four floors. Ricky agreed that it was exhausting and it would require another visit to complete.
I reflected upon my visit to the African American museum earlier in the year. It also was four floors and took four hours.
As challenging and life changing as it was, I had more points of reference. A skeleton to add more information.
So far. Two hours after scheduled departure. And waiting.
But I do have some nice tea that is being served.
So after four hours we took off and made it to Barcelona. Took bus to downtown and the. Taxi to my pad.
Now Cate and I are heading to dinner
