December 27, 2014 -- Canby Oregon.
“From Canby to Ecuador”

http://gregparker97013.blogspot.com/

"I began the year married and living in the same home I raised my kids. The year concludes as a single guy living in a two bedroom townhouse.
Now I am researching a trip to Ecuador this summer with the possibility of retiring there.
The custom of a new year can help with the emotional transition of change. From one thing to another.

Participants are encouraged to write aspirations on a note and put in fire.

So it is within that custom that I look forward to new adventures. Traveling alone to someplace I've never been. Perhaps not to find something but merely to seek a newer world."

Four years ago I went on a journey for four weeks. Solo. To a place I had never been.

Now I am two weeks away from a month in Europe. A place I went to once. Forty five years ago. When I was studying in London.

Four years ago I wanted to prove I could travel alone. And I wanted to grow. I’ve told my kids, it is in discomfort that we learn our best lessons.

This time is different.

I won’t be alone. I am meeting Cate in Barcelona where she is completing a 90 day au pair gig.

This time will be different in another way. Instead of seeking to find myself, I will be seeking for the sake of its own virtue.
